Welcome to the JKM Library's guide for information literacy.
Use the tabs spanning across the header to navigate to the type of information you need.
In the academic setting, information literacy means that students are able to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information" (American Library Association). Students who are "information-literate" produce well-informed work that relies on authoritative sources, which are properly cited.
Developing Chatham students' information literacy skills is a priority for JKM Library staff. Faculty can help by reviewing the standards and guidelines for their subject area and learn more about developing these skills in their students by consulting books, websites, and of course JKM Library staff.
